The Northside Precinct Judges met with Mayor Annise Parker for breakfast, and we raised many concerns that we have regarding our communities. We discussed city budgeting, infrastructure, crime, and education. But we also addressed our concern with the lack of face-to-face interaction with our Northside voters. We were informed quite frankly it has to do with the low voter turnout in our areas. The other candidates we have spoken to have given us pretty much the same response: If the voter turnout numbers aren't there, they won't be either. Plain and simple. If we want the people who are running for positions in OUR CITY GOVERNMENT to pay any attention to the concerns that we have as individuals, we have to show them that we are willing to stand up and be counted. The only way to be counted is to vote. When they see the numbers, they will know we are a force to be reckoned with, not ignored.
So I ask that each and every one of US do our part by voting AND take someone else with us to vote too. Convince someone of the importance and privilege we have here in this country to have our voices heard. Democracy only works if the people are speaking out! So let's get together and get this done, Houston!
